The story of La Rochère begins in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté in the 15th century. Simon de Thysac, a gentleman glassmaker, settles in the Vosges mountains and establishes the factory for strategic and economic reasons. At that time, this region of France was a trade route between the North and the South, Italy and the Netherlands. It was also a region oriented towards Europe. 'Bourgogne-Franche-Comté was ideal for raw materials such as wood, silica, and water.
