These glasses feature motifs inspired by baroque decorative panels: scallop shells, embellished with curves and floral counter-curves, evoking vegetal sinuosities. This decoration recalls the splendour and refinement of the Table Arts of the Louis XV century. The scallop shell quickly became, under Louis XV, a decorative reference found in gold smithing, cabinetmaking, and stucco.
